Step 2 use your finger to tighten oil drain plug.
Drain plugs tighten them until they break or strip the threads then back them off 1 2 a turn.
Place a socket onto the oil drain plug and continue tightening it until it is snug on the oil pan.
It is important to start the oil drain plug with your fingers so that you eliminate the possibility of cross threading the bolt.

You only need a torque wrench mainly for cylinder head tightening and solid wheel bearings along with large size bolts or nuts crancshaft etc spark plugs can be tightened by a ratchet until they stop turning without force then tighten just a bit further without straining on the wrench.

With a wrench tighten the plug very lightly until it stops and is only snug with the pan.

Joke drain plugs usually seal by means of soft metal fibre leather plastic gaskets washers or an o ring.
If you do you run the risk of striping out the oil pan threads.

Now that you are done don t forget to get rid of your used engine oil in a safe appropriate.

Therefore actual tightness of the plug is a bit irrelevant as far as torque is concerned.
